- The Inclines of Pittsburgh (about 1/2 hour away) - ride the historical funicular railways on Mount Washington
- Station Square (less than an hour away) - a beautiful historic Rail Road Station, restored with upscale shops and dining

- Harmony, PA (less than an hour north)- light hiking trails, in addition to walking around the historical Harmonist town.

- Falling Water (under 2 hours from here) - Frank Lloyd Wright
- Bayernhof Museum (under an hour from here) - historical home tour, filled with music boxes and other mechanical instruments
- Phipps Conservatory (about an hour from here) - Botanical gardens and Conservatory
- Old Economy Village (about an hour form here) - the 3rd and final home of the Harmonists (Harmony was their 1st home).
- Depreciation Lands Museum (about 1/2 hour away) - Living history museum, open Sunday afternoons
Shopping, Libraries, other indoor activities
- Antique shopping abounds in the area. Start with the Wexford General Store (under 1/2 hour away)
- The Grove City Outlets (about 1 hour north) is a large shopping area
- The Ross Park Mall (nearby) - enclosed shopping Mall.
- The Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh - many are beautiful historical buildings. The main library in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, adjacent to the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History, has an extensive collection of books and other materials.

- There are a variety of "Maker Spaces" around town where you can schedule a craft day
- The Weavers' Cabin in Harmony, PA - offers opportunities for you to weave a rug or a scarf in about 3 hours. Pre-registration required.
